Paddy’s Pub: A Poem by S. T. Finn

Fragments of language

break through the smoke —

bits and pieces of words, and after,

mingled with a burst of music

and broken laughter.

~

Fragments of language

tossed and tattered —

voices dripping, like rain, falling

from hovering clouds in the sky,

the thunder calling.

~

Fragments of language

lost and scattered —

when words are spoken, they freeze,

like soft, steamy whispers on

a cool winter breeze.
